Meet the Badass Smith's
Kevin & Maria have been together since they were both 25 years old, now going on 29 years together. They've always displayed compassion for anyone who has crossed paths with them. Kevin's the Administrator of this agency, he's got a Masters Degree in Medical Administration and combined they have over 50 years of Customer Service, Sales and Buisness Management.
They have fostered over 20 children and still remain in contact with several of them and have an extended family of 4 other children and 8 Grandchildren plus the 2 they're blessed to have at their home.
In recent years the Smith's have helped over 200 families receive a turkey and all the fixins for Thanksgiving dinner. On anther occassion they'd organized and contributed so that 80 plus teens could go on a shopping spree at a local shoe store and buy them a brand new pair of shoes for Christmas.
Now, when you say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree it's usually in a negative cense, however in this case it isn't. When the apple did't fall far from the tree it's in reference to their youngest child who went out and asked a local party store to donate over 30 costumes because she saw several of her peers going to a Fall Festival without a costume. She wanted to make sure no child would go that year without a costume. She personally hand picked and delivered each of them a costume and their very own candy bag.
This year the Smith's have personally volunteered their time to help feed hundreds of refugee's on a weekly basis who have come accross the Rio Grande River, were detained in a Federal Detention Center , then released to a local Catholic Charity Respite Center. Here the refugees have a place to shower and get some much needed rest, food provided by the Volunteers from Mateo 25 , and are then sent along their way to be reunited with their families already situated in the US. The Smith Family has been fortunate enough to donate money and food though their families 501 c-3 non-profit organization OneFamily.org
Now the Smith's are interested in helping out families by providing the caregivers with a disabled child or adult with some much needed rest and or a DAY OFF. They know first hand what it's like to be a caregiver and know how trying and exhausting this labor of love can be. " If your not sure if you qualify or if you just have a question, please don't hesitate to give me a call", says Maria Smith. We really are here to help!
